Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean
by Ed Graczyk
Directed by Michael Boyd
Produced by Brian Sharp
November 3 through 12, 2017
Auditions: September 18 & 19, 2017

Ed Graczyk’s nostalgic comedy/drama about the members of the Disciples of James Dean Fan Club as they meet for their reunion inside a Five-and-Dime Store in McCarthy, Texas. Though they are here to honor the twentieth anniversary of the actor’s death, it is their own lives, loves, laughs, and losses we examine in this strong character-driven story — a story with not a few surprises and revelations.

Audition Dates: September 18th and 19th at 6:30 PM
Production Dates: November 3rd – November 12th.

Juanita: 40 – 70 No-nonsense store owner who loves Gospel music.

Sissy: 38+ – Lovely, lively and a bit of a trollop, Sissy is a force of nature; strong role for a strong actor.

Mona: 38+ – Jimmy Dean’s mother. Delusional, self-absorbed and likely loony; this is a demanding role for a strong actor.

Stella May: 38+ – Loud, obnoxious, rich and unsympathetic, Stella May is an antagonist and a bit of a bully, but shows her soft heart in the end.

Edna Louise: 38+ – The “shrinking violet” Edna Louise is sweet and loving, and carrying her 7th child!

Joanne: 38+ – Mysterious, elegant, credibly transsexual. She has more than one secret; strong part for a strong actor.

Joe: 18 – Innocent, sweet kid with a big secret; Joe appears only in flashback, but this is a very demanding, featured role for a strong young actor.

All readings will be from the script and sides will be provided one half hour prior to audition start. Director Michael Boyd is open to all casting possibilities not limited to age, race, sex, or physical ability. Age notes on character descriptions are only suggestions.
